Director of Student Support Services

Job Posting (Anticipated): Director of Student Support Services to begin on July 1, 2025

Mechanicville City School District is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Student Support Services to lead, manage, and enhance the district's student support services programs. The Director will oversee services designed to promote academic success, social-emotional well-being, and overall student development. This role is pivotal in ensuring equitable access to resources and support for all students, especially those facing challenges that impact their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Oversight: Lead, develop, and supervise the district’s Student Support Services programs, including special education, counseling, social work, school psychologists, and other related services.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, parents, community organizations, and outside agencies to design and implement comprehensive support strategies that meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Program Development: Evaluate, develop, and improve programs aimed at promoting student success, including mental health initiatives, behavioral support systems, and academic intervention programs.

  • Compliance: Ensure that all programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), Section 504, and other relevant laws and policies.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Collect, analyze, and utilize student performance data to assess the effectiveness of programs and make informed decisions on necessary improvements or interventions.

  • Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and supervise staff within the Student Support Services department. Provide ongoing professional development to ensure staff are equipped to meet the needs of all students.

  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Oversee the budget for Student Support Services and manage resources effectively to ensure programs are well-supported and sustainable.

  • Advocacy and Communication: Advocate for student needs within the school district and community, maintaining open lines of communication with families and the broader community.

  • Crisis Management: Lead crisis intervention efforts when necessary, ensuring that students and families receive the support they need during times of emergency or trauma.

  • Knowledge:  Comprehensive knowledge of special education and instructional methodology including differentiation, specially designed instruction and MTSS
