Micro-Computer Technician

Mechanicville City School District’s Computer Micro-Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the educational environment within our school district by ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of instructional computer systems and related technology. This position will work closely with students, teachers, and other staff members to address technical issues and maintain an efficient computing environment in the district's educational facilities.

Responsibilities:

Hardware Maintenance and Repair:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues with computer systems, including desktops, laptops, peripherals, and other related equipment.

  • Perform repairs, upgrades, and replacements of faulty components to minimize downtime and ensure smooth functionality.

  • Software Installation and Configuration:

  • Install, update, and configure operating systems and software applications on computers and laptops as per the school district's requirements.

  • Ensure that the necessary software licenses are appropriately managed and adhered to.

  • Network Connectivity and Support:

  • Assist in configuring and maintaining network connections for computers, ensuring reliable access to internet resources and intranet services.

  • Collaborate with the network team to address connectivity and network-related issues.

Security and Data Protection:

  • Implement security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and regular system updates to protect computer systems from potential threats.

  • Educate users about cybersecurity best practices to maintain a secure computing environment.

  • User Support and Training:

  • Provide technical support to students, teachers, and staff members on computer-related issues, both in person and remotely.

  • Conduct training sessions to help users become proficient in using computers and educational software.

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all computer assets, peripherals, and related equipment in the school district.

  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of necessary hardware and software resources.

Collaborative Initiatives:

  • Collaborate with other IT staff to plan and implement technology projects that enhance the educational experience within the school district.

  • Work in coordination with teachers to integrate technology effectively into the curriculum.

Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of technical support requests, troubleshooting procedures, and solutions provided to build a knowledge base for future reference.

Rate: $21.98/hour + competitive fringe package per CSEA contract

This vacancy will be filled by a certified list provided by Mechanicville City Civil Service.  Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law.  The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law.

A fingerprint-supported criminal history background check is required by law for employment in New York State Schools.

Special Education Teacher -Long Term Substitute

Mechanicville City School District is seeking a fulltime Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher, to commence on September 26, 2025 or ASAP.

This position reports to the Director of Student Support Services. The Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of all students with disabilities. This position requires adaptability and a positive attitude.

The position is across all grade levels.

Special Education Teacher Expectations:

  • Provides specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP.
  • Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
  • Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.

Substitute School Nurse for 2025-2026

Mechanicville City School District is looking for qualified and compassionate Substitute School Nurses to join our team. The Substitute School Nurse will be responsible for providing temporary health services to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse. This role involves responding to medical emergencies, administering medications, and maintaining a healthy school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide temporary nursing care to students, including assessing, treating, and managing medical conditions as needed.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician, following school district policies.
  • Respond to emergencies, injuries, and accidents, providing first aid or medical care as required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students, including documenting treatments and incidents.
  • Support students with special health needs or chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, allergies, diabetes) during the nurse's absence.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding health-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with state health regulations and school policies during the temporary assignment.
  • Promote a healthy and safe school environment for all students and staff.
$37.57/hour
