Substitute Food Service Workers-2026-2027

Mechanicville City School District is seeking dependable, energetic, and community-minded individuals to join our Food Service Department as a Substitute Food Service Helper.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation: Assist in basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, wrapping, and portioning menu items.

  • Meal Service: Serve nutritious, balanced breakfast and lunch meals to students and staff in a friendly, welcoming environment.

  • Kitchen Maintenance & Sanitation: Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils; clean and sanitize prep counters, serving lines, and dining area tables.

  • POS / Register Operation: Operate the cafeteria Point of Sale (POS) register during meal service times (training provided).

  • Inventory & Restocking: Help unload, stock, and organize food supplies and paper goods according to food safety guidelines.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health, hygiene, and safety guidelines (HACCP) established by NYS and local health departments.

Substitute Bus Attendants for 2026-2027

Mechanicville City School District is continuously seeking patient, dependable, and safety-minded individuals to join our Transportation Department as Substitute Bus Attendants.

In this role, you will work alongside our bus drivers to ensure students, including those with specialized needs, have a safe, supportive, and comfortable ride to and from school each day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Student Safety: Assist students with safely boarding, seating, and exiting the bus.

  • Specialized Support: Help secure wheelchairs, seatbelts, harness systems, and child safety restraint seats as needed.

  • Maintain a Positive Environment: Monitor student behavior during transit, promote safe habits, and assist the driver in maintaining a calm atmosphere.

  • Emergency Assistance: Help execute emergency evacuation drills and assist students in the event of an emergency.

  • Student Care: Provide individual attention and support to students with special physical, medical, or behavioral needs

Substitute School Nurse for 2026-2027

Mechanicville City School District is looking for qualified and compassionate Substitute School Nurses to join our team. The Substitute School Nurse will be responsible for providing temporary health services to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse. This role involves responding to medical emergencies, administering medications, and maintaining a healthy school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide temporary nursing care to students, including assessing, treating, and managing medical conditions as needed.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician, following school district policies.
  • Respond to emergencies, injuries, and accidents, providing first aid or medical care as required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students, including documenting treatments and incidents.
  • Support students with special health needs or chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, allergies, diabetes) during the nurse's absence.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding health-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with state health regulations and school policies during the temporary assignment.
  • Promote a healthy and safe school environment for all students and staff.
