Position Summary

Mechanicville City School District invites applications from motivated, student-centered educators for an Elementary School Teacher position. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction across core subject areas, support the social-emotional development of students, and collaborate actively with colleagues, families, and support staff. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated instruction aligned with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards across all required subject areas.

• Create a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, curiosity, and a love of learning.

• Use formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress in accordance with district policies.

• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behaviors, and academic development.

• Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and support personnel to design and implement effective instructional strategies.

• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and implement accommodations and modifications as required.

• Support the social-emotional well-being of students.

Fulfill professional responsibilities including staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, professional development, and extracurricular duties as assigned.

• Adhere to all district policies, New York State Education Law, and regulations governing student safety, privacy, and conduct.

Job Qualifications

• Valid New York State Teaching Certificate in Childhood Education (Grades 1–6), or Students with Disabilities (Grades 1–6), or a related certification appropriate for elementary instruction.

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field from an accredited institution; Master's degree preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to implement the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards.

• Strong classroom management skills with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with elementary-age students.

• Effective oral and written communication skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.

• Proficiency with educational technology tools and platforms to support instruction and student engagement.

• Commitment to the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students, including those with diverse learning needs

Preferred Qualifications

• New York State certification in a second area (e.g., Kindergarten, Literacy, Special Education).

• Experience teaching in a public school setting, preferably at the elementary level.

• Familiarity with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

• Experience with data-driven instructional practices and progress monitoring tools.
